CORE CO2 LASER
A Genuine Breakthrough
Physicians around the world are using the laser to “paint away” the smile lines (crow’s feet) at the corners of the eyes and fine wrinkles around the delicate tissue under the eyes. Even the most stubborn lines that cause “lipstick bleed” around the mouth may be dramatically improved in a single treatment.
The improvements gained by the laser are more than just cosmetic because the laser stimulates production of new collagen, the supporting material in the skin. The improved skin tone and texture give a more youthful appearance.
What patients like most about laser resurfacing are the responses from friends who usually tell them they look “well-rested” or “refreshed.” Because of their rejuvenated look, patients are more inclined to take better care of their new, healthy skin.
Dr. Selene knows that looking good matters more now than ever. She is an expert in skin care. That’s why she is proud to offer her patients the latest technology in cosmetic dermatology–the CORE CO2 Laser for wrinkle and scar removal.
Committed to You
Dr. Selene is fully committed to you and laser surgery. She offers a fully equipped, in-office laser suite where she performs laser surgery regularly. Laser skin resurfacing offers benefits for both men and women. While men and women pursue cosmetic surgery for similar reasons, each have different concerns.
How the Laser Works
Using the most advanced laser technology, the CORE laser gently treats the damage caused by sun and time. The skin contracts and tightens as the laser vaporizes the water in the tissue. The heat penetrates into the skin no deeper than half the thickness of a human hair. The old skin is then wiped away, leaving the new skin underneath to develop and regenerate. The laser also tightens and shrinks the collagen in the skin. Collagen, directly beneath the epidermis, gives the skin firmness and helps keep it youthful looking. The laser helps stimulate collagen regrowth.
Patients may pinpoint a specific area for treatment such as around their eyes or mouth, or choose the full-face option for the most dramatic difference. The actual laser surgery time takes between 45 minutes and 1.5 hours and may be performed with topical and local anesthesia.
Like any type of deep peel, the laser removes protective layers of the skin creating a wound similar to a severe burn, which takes approximately ten to fourteen days to heal. Redness of the skin may persist for weeks to months following surgery. During the first several weeks, patients should avoid the sun and keep their faces covered with a healing ointment, i.e., Aquaphor.
The skin will stay pink for a few weeks. The pink color is covered up easily with make-up. Make-up may be applied within two weeks after treatment.
Because laser resurfacing is an in-office procedure, it is minimally invasive which means you may return to work or your normal activities usually within one week after treatment.
Today, the CO2 laser has been perfected to correct numerous skin imperfections. Known as laser skin resurfacing, the CO2 laser is revolutionizing skin care and wrinkle treatment for sun-damaged skin, which is good news for past and present sun worshipers.
Laser skin resurfacing is a genuine breakthrough. In addition to its aesthetic benefits, laser skin resurfacing may also decrease skin cancer by removing sun-damaged skin.
